Portland Area Parks // Holly Farm Park

Location // Southwest Portland

Good for Ages // Playground good for ages 8 and younger and good for families of all ages for picnics

Playground // Small playground that is geared more towards preschool aged on up however there is a small section good for toddlers that includes a slide. The playground has some great climbing elements. There are also two baby swings. For older children there is a small skatespot that is well maintained.

Green Area // There is a large green area that is perfect for running around, playing ball or just relaxing on a blanket. Seating & Picnic Areas // There are three well maintained picnic tables, benches near the skate area, a few more under a tree and there is a low cement wall around the playground that can also be used as seating.

Bathroom Facilities // There is a handicap accessible porta john to use (however if you are there during library hours you could always hop on over there to use the bathroom)

Other Features // There are water fountains and it is located next to the library however if you plan to combine both activities make sure to check the hours as they don’t open until noon on Monday and Tuesday.

Parking // On street – not tons but it’s a fairly quiet park – could potentially park at the library if needed

Pros // quiet!; big green area; well maintained; good spot for a picnic; good for a range of ages; next to library; wide paved paths; handicap accessible; small wall around the playground

Cons // near a busy main road; not a “destination” park but still a nice one to stop at if you are in the area

Our thoughts // I took Edith here on around 10am on a Tuesday morning. We were the only people at the park so it was super quiet. I was disappointed to find that someone(s) had decided that they would wrap the baby swings up so we were unable to use the swings however Edith didn’t seem to mind and was happy using the small slide. The playground was well confined so that I could easily watch Edith as she ran around without having to worry about her dashing off and while it is close to the main road there are enough barriers around that there is little risk/stress of having your child get too close to the road. I absolutely loved the big green area that was perfect for us to toss, throw and kick Edith’s ball around. If it had been closer to lunch time we probably would have packed a lunch and taken advantage of the nice picnic areas.

Would we return // YES! I would definitely go back for a picnic and playtime or plan to do a park and library date which we would have done this time had the library opened before noon.
