We recently traveled to Virginia with Edith for a wedding and were lucky enough to be invited to stay on site at the Chestnut Hill B&B with the bride, groom and other wedding guests. We were a bit worried leading up to the stay as Edith was going through a terrible night time screaming phase due to teething and we really had no idea how she would be. Considering B&B’s aren’t exactly known for being family friendly we contacted our friends before hand but they said just come and we’d figure it out when we got there. So we were prepared to find ourselves a hotel if need be but we luckily had a very successful stay.
Since only wedding guests and the bride and groom were staying at the inn we were able to choose our rooms upon arrival. We ended up staying in the Alexander Daley Room which was simply amazing. One of the most amazing guest rooms I have ever stayed in with two fire places, a jacuzzi tub, amazing shower and the most fantastic bed. Honestly it’s no wonder Edith slept so well it was the most comfortable bed I have slept on in years, or maybe even ever.
Although the innkeepers seemed taken a little off guard when finding out they had guest with a baby who were also vegan they were very gracious and amazing hosts. They made sure that all of our needs were met and had nothing but kind words regarding Edith. I have to say I was pretty impressed with Edith as well. We had no tantrums, no night screams and she was happy as can be. I have to say staying at the B&B was easy for us because we co-sleep so if you don’t I would make sure to bring or rent a pack n’ play for your little one. The only thing that could have been better was a little more food or a small plate for Edith because I left every breakfast feeling hungry because little miss ate 60% of my breakfast. Oh well! Not a big thing.
Edith really enjoyed wandering around the big grassy yard, peaking into the koi pond, giggling at the fountain and saying hi to the cats (and statues of dogs and lions). I wish I could say we would stay here again with Edith but I have to say if we were to visit again it would be a parents only affair. We had an amazing time and our two night stay left us sad and disappointed go home.
Have you ever stayed at a B&B with a baby? If no, would you?
