Now that Edith is eating three meals plus the occasional snack we have been making sure to offer her water throughout the day. When we first started doing this the only way she wanted to drink water was from our adult glasses which is really cute and she is great at it but it means that we often end up with water all over both of us and I usually end up with floating bits of food in my water. Since I don’t love leftover hummus in my water we have been trying to teach Edith to drink from her own cup.
We started with a thinkbaby sippy cup top but she just didn’t really take to the holding the cup up so she could get at the water. So after about a week or so we switched to the straw top and it took about 10 days for her to really learn how to use it but now she drinks away with no problem and she loves it.
We have a few styles of sippy cups and one other straw cup but Edith’s favorite quickly became her new thinkbaby cup. I think she likes the shape of the cup because it is easy to hold and I like it as well because I can fit it into the pocket on the diaper bag and take it everywhere with us. Another great feature of this bottle is that you can start with a baby bottle and then get the conversion kit which has two sippy tops and the handle attachment and you can buy the straw cover as well. You keep using the same bottle and just switch out the covers.
Nowadays Edith is a water drinking machine and you can rarely find her without her cup close by.
As for the sippy cover tops she enjoys chewing on them when her gums are bothering her from teething. We also have the bottle top but since Edith rarely has a bottle we haven’t tried it with her yet.
